Smart Omega places 5th-6th in CODM World Championship 2022

Smart Omega settled for a 5th-6th place finish in the playoffs of the Call of Duty Mobile World Championship 2022, which was held in Raleigh, North Carolina, on December 18.

Omega Esports, one of Garena representatives, started strong with a sweep of the group stage and a 3-1 upper bracket victory over Brazil's SKADE.

However, the Smart Communications-backed COD Mobile team was eliminated from the world championships after suffering two consecutive defeats in their playoff matches.

Omega fell from the upper bracket semifinals to the lower bracket after suffering a 0-3 loss to Inco Stalwart of Brazil.

In the lower bracket quarterfinals, the Filipino CODM squad were eliminated following a 0-3 loss to Tribe Gaming of North America, which was the tournament's eventual champion.

Omega, composed of Woopiiee, KenDy, iDra, Rage, and R1sky, ended their CODM World campaign in 5th-6th place.

Smart Omega bagged USD 80,000 (around PHP 4.4 million) in consolation.

Omega was the only remaining Garena (Southeast Asian) team after the Singaporean-Indonesian squad ALMIGHTY was eliminated in the group stage.
