PH broadband, mobile speeds improve in Nov 2022 —Ookla

Both fixed broadband and mobile speeds in the Philippines have improved, as per Ookla's Speedtest Global Index for November 2022.

The country ranked 45th globally in the Fixed Broadband category, recording an average median download speed of 81.42 Mbps. The average upload speed was registered at 78.82 Mbps, and the average latency was 6 ms. Compared to October charts, which listed average download and upload speeds of 71.70 Mbps and 68.98 Mbps, respectively, both metrics have remarkably increased.

On the other hand, in the Mobile category, the Philippines retained the rank 81st, posting an average of 24.04 Mbps median download speed. The average upload speed and latency were recorded at 5.99 Mbps and 23 ms, respectively. This month's download and upload record shows a slight gain compared to the previous month's result of 22.98 Mbps and 5.53 Mbps, respectively.

Philippines ranks 81st in mobile and 45th in fixed broadband, according to the November 2022 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.

For the global median speeds for November 2022, the average download speed for mobile is 33.97 Mbps, while fixed broadband is 74.54 Mbps.

Qatar secured the top spot in the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, recording an average speed of 176.18 Mbps. Meanwhile, Chile ranked first in the fixed broadband category, with an average of 216.46 Mbps download speeds.

The Speedtest Global Index for November 2022 includes 142 countries for Mobile and 180 for Fixed Broadband.

Analytic firm Ookla cited that Speedtest Global Index results are based on the median download speed in order to better accurately reflect the internet speeds a user is possible to achieve in a given market.
