Globe all set to accept SIM registrations online starting Dec 27

Globe said that it is ready to accept Globe and TM SIM registrations via its online platform beginning December 27, 2022.

Following the recent release of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for the SIM Registration Act by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Globe announces the availability of its online SIM registration platform.

According to the telco, there are an estimated 87.9 million SIM users in the Globe network.

All Globe Prepaid, TM [Touch Mobile], Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi, Globe Mobile WiFi and Globe Business prepaid subscribers may register their SIM cards at https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg starting December 27, 2022.

By January 2023, customers will also be able to register via the New GlobeOne app. Globe and TM subscribers will continue to enjoy Globe services and have until April 26, 2023, to register to avoid deactivation.

Meanwhile, new SIM card holders shall purchase deactivated SIMs starting December 27, 2022. Customers buying new Globe and TM SIMs must register them immediately in order to use Globe services.

Globe Telecom said that it understands that there are customers, including senior citizens, persons with disability [PWD] and pregnant individuals, who may need help registering their SIMs. To address this issue, the telecommunications company, with the assistance of the government, will implement assisted registration sites by February 2023 for those in need who lack internet access or use basic or feature phones.

On the other hand, existing postpaid customers, including Globe Postpaid, Globe Platinum, and Globe Business, will be pre-registered by Globe using the details provided in their initial application. Should there be missing information needed in order to comply with the requirements of the law, Globe will contact its customers.

Ernest Cu, President and CEO of the Globe Group, said that they're committed to providing their customers with "an easy-to-use, secure, and inclusive registration process."

Cu also encourages all their customers to plan their registration dates and prepare their valid government IDs with photos to enjoy the full benefits of their services and to protect their personal information.

The law is a significant step forward in the fight against criminals who use SIM anonymity for fraudulent purposes.

It provides customers with an additional layer of security and protection and complements Globe's longstanding fraud protection efforts, which include investments in filtering systems, proactive blocking of scam and spam SMS, and data-sharing partnerships with financial institutions.

In the coming days, Globe will provide additional information on its SIM registration platform and procedure via its official social media channels.
