SIM Card Registration Act (SRA)
The Republic Act No. 11934, or the SIM Card Registration Act (SRA), requires all new and existing subscribers to register their SIM cards prior to activation. The Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) to the law was released by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on December 12, 2022, and will take effect on December 27, 2022.
The law promotes accountability on the use of SIM cards and provides authorities with the necessary tools to detect and stop criminal activities such as text scams, cybercrimes, terrorism, and other offenses.
Who needs to register?
- All DITO SIM card users, whether prepaid or postpaid
- Tourists and foreign nationals who are using the DITO SIM card
- Businesses and corporate entities
Can I register more than one SIM card?
Yes, you can register multiple SIM cards under one (1) name.
How can Postpaid users register?
Existing users will be notified and will have to confirm their submitted information.
How to register?
- DITO subscribers can register their SIMs starting on December 27, 2022, via DITO.ph.
- Registration is free of charge.
Subscribers will be required to provide their personal information:
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Sex
- Present/Official Address
- Government-issued ID
FOR MINORS:
The SIM card should be registered under the parent/legal guardian's name along with the following:
- Any government-issued ID of the parent or guardian
- Consent of the minor's parent or guardian to register the SIM card
FOR BUSINESSES, requirements are as follows:
- SEC Certificate of Registration
- Board Resolution designating the authorized representative or a Special Power of Attorney (SPA)
FOR TOURISTS / FOREIGN NATIONALS:
- Passport
- Proof of Address in the Philippines
- Return ticket to own country showing date/time of departure from the Philippines
What happens if I don't register?
- For New Users (prepaid and postpaid), SIM cards will remain deactivated until the customer registers.
- For Existing Users (prepaid and postpaid), they will be given 180 days or 6 months from the effectivity of the law to register their SIM card. Otherwise, it will be deactivated. A deactivated SIM card will be given a 5-day grace period to register and get reactivated.
Failure to register within the initial and grace period will result in the deactivation of the SIM card, and may be penalized.
